Our Story

Eugene Giesinger is the head chef and owner of Hydeaway in Sydney’s Hyde Park. After working for decades in award winning restaurants in Sydney, London and Melbourne, In mid 2012, Giesinger opened an an outlet in Bronte, Eugene’s cafe. There his passion for locally sourced Australian produce and high quality food at a reasonable price has flourished. 

Now he has brought that same passion, honed skills and techniques to Sydney’s CBD, at Hydeaway in Hyde Park. Hydeaway is a tranquil oasis in the city, situated behind Museum Railway station, looking out over the park on to the ANZAC memorial. 

There you will find delicious fare, at a reasonable price. Brewing award winning Ona coffee, we serve fresh and tasty meals, snacks and drinks designed to satisfy the busy city clientele. Come and try our house-made cakes and pastries, and our moorish sandwiches on organic sourdough. Treat yourself to our spectacular lunch time buffet and a’la carte menu. And choose a sensational glass (or bottle) from our exclusive wine list.
